Service to Bodybuilding and Fitness Club Members

  • Weekly training sessions in both classroom and weight gym in USC’s Blatt PE Center

  • Personal and group instruction from experienced or certified instructors in a variety of wellness topics from weight training, body shaping, bodybuilding, mind-muscle connection, nutrition/dieting, gaining lean muscle size, injury prevention, differences in the training of bodybuilders, power lifters and finess/figure, etc. 

  • Balance academic achievement with workouts, rest, and proper diet.  (Bodybuilding & Fitness Club members consistently have high GPAs)

  • Nutrition and healthy food options on campus. 

  • Attendance and participation in state and regional bodybuilding competitions. 

  • Gaining muscle and losing fat. 

  • Symmetry charts and body fat measurements – document members current status and progress made each year. 

  • Competition preparation (diet/definition, posing routines, tanning, judging, stage presence, timing) 

  • Entry fees waved for active participating Club members entering special events such as the USC Octathlon, Strength Meet, and the Mr. and Miss USC

  • T-shirts – dues paid members  receive a charcoal grey MUSCLE shirt and if enter or staff special events (USC Octatlon, Strength Meet) receive additional t-shirts

 

Service to the University

  • Welcome Week Workout - offered to new students as an orientation and workout in the Blatt PE Center Weight Room. 

  • USC Octathlon – 8 fitness challenges on one Sunday afternoon for men and women; usually held in late September; open to all at the University

  • USC Bench Press Meet - annual event each November (co-sponsored with Intramural Sports) 

  • "Mr. & Ms. USC (men’s Bodybuilding & Figure Championships" - held annually for over 30 years. 

  • Joined members of the State Newspaper staff on two teams. As a fund raiser for United Way, local businesses paid $1,000 per 20 person team to pull a UPS Cargo Plane at Columbia's Metropolitan Airport. The State paid and the club pulled and United Way gained $2,000 in the joint effort. Not bad for 11 seconds of work to pull the 76,500 lb. plane 25 feet

  • Clean Carolina – responsible for area in front of the Blatt PE Center

  • Assist  various departments and community projects that may vary from year to year
